Wasp venom-induced acute kidney injury: current progress and prospects
نویسندگان
چکیده
Wasp venom can trigger local and systemic reactions, with the kidneys being commonly affected, potentially causing acute kidney injury (AKI). Despite of recent advances, our knowledge on underlying mechanisms toxicity targeted therapies remain poor. AKI result from direct nephrotoxic effects wasp or secondary rhabdomyolysis intravascular hemolysis, which will release myoglobin free hemoglobin. Inflammatory responses play a central role in these pathological mechanisms. Noteworthily, successful establishment suitable experimental model assist basic research clinical advancements related to venom-induced AKI. The combination therapeutic plasma exchange continuous renal replacement therapy appears be preferred treatment for In addition, studies cilastatin varespladib have shown their potential as agents. This review summarizes available evidence AKI, particular focus inflammatory targets drugs, and, therefore, aiming support development against

Wasp sting-induced acute kidney injury.
BACKGROUND Wasp stings are a common form of envenomation in tropical countries, especially in farmers. The aim of this study was to document the clinical presentation, treatment and outcomes of patients with acute kidney injury (AKI) due to multiple wasp stings in a tertiary care hospital. METHODS We conducted a retrospective observational study of patients with multiple wasp stings and AKI a...
متن کاملWasp stings (Vespa affinis) induced acute kidney injury following rhabdomyolysis in a 25-year-old woman.
Wasp sting is a relatively common arthropod assault. This usually results in pain and mild allergic reactions, but sometimes may cause severe systemic reaction and multiorgan dysfunction including rhabdomyolysis, hemolysis, coagulopathy, hepatic, renal and cardiac complications. Along with several other pathomechanisms, rhabdomyolysis is a distinguished cause of acute kidney injury (AKI) in pa...
متن کاملAcute Kidney Injury Following Rhabdomyolysis due to Multiple Wasp Stings (Vespa affinis)
Background: Wasp stings are quite commonly observed in Bangladesh though they are under reported. However, rhabdomyolysis following multiple wasp stings is a rare entity. Case report: A middle aged physician was stung by a swarm of wasps at multiple sites of the body. He felt severe pain at the sites of the stings and was primarily treated with intravenous hydrocortisone and chlorpheniramine. W...

متن کاملAcute kidney injury and rhabdomyolysis due to multiple wasp stings
In most patients, wasp stings cause local reactions and rarely anaphylaxis. Acute kidney injury and rhabdomyolysis are unusual complications of wasp stings. We report a case of acute kidney injury and rhabdomyolysis secondary to multiple wasp stings. A 55-year-old farmer developed multi organ dysfunction with acute kidney injury and rhabdomyolysis 3 days after he had sustained multiple wasp sti...
